Ms. Faridat Yakubu, the community mobilization officer of the Oral Health Program
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, Ms. Faridat Yakubu, the community mobilization officer of the Oral Health Program, organized a fantastic event for immigrant mothers to stress the importance of oral health. This event, supported by the Delta Dental Foundation of Iowa, aimed to make it easier for immigrant families to access oral health services. Around 10 mother and child pairs attended and received helpful dental education, focusing on tooth brushing and other preventive dental health measures. Everyone was thrilled to learn new and insightful information, and the feedback from the participants was super positive! For instance, Veeralaxmi Nakuluri mentioned that she’ll stick to the educational information provided, and Ezinne found the program really useful for taking care of her child’s teeth. Overall, it’s clear that the event successfully met its goals by providing valuable oral health information to immigrant mothers and their children. This positive response suggests that Ms. Yakubu’s community mobilization efforts, supported by the Delta Dental Foundation of Iowa, are truly making a difference in improving oral health education and access within the immigrant community. Great job!
